Swimming and Sheepshank Sam

On 4-16-09 Sheepshank Sam came and visited our school. He taught all of the 3rd and 4th graders about lumberjacks and we even got to use a saw. It took half of the day to tell us about the history of lumberjacks and after lunch we went outside and used the saws and real antique lumberjack tools.

On 4-17-09 I got to go swimming again. First we warmed up for ten minutes. Then we had freetime and I played basketball with Bruce,Michael, Nolan, Kolten, and Elliott. Me, Bruce, and Michael won 20 to 18. After that I went on the lilypads and made a record speed going across. Last, I was the last one to go on the slide. After that we had to change and go.

On April 17th 4th grade is going to the Aquatic Center! I hope we`re going to go in the competition pool because last time we went to the play pool. Also it`s popcorn day which is awesome because then I get two snacks.
On May 26-27 we are going to Mackinac Island and spend the night there! We get to bring $20 so we can get souvenirs and rent bikes and stuff. We get to see an old battle fort and have Mackinac Island`s famous fudge!

We have been exploring websites for kids. There are many websites out on the internet that kids learn, explorer, connect with other kids, and play!
My choice is a website that has comics, games, movies, and some educational stuff to. You can even read books!
I like it because it has a lot of fun games and cool books like Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

We have been working on book talks for our Holmes Book Fair. I read and wrote a book talk for Summer Ball. By:Mike Lupica
It is realistic fiction and is about a teenager named Danny Walker who goes to basketball camp with his friends Will,Ty,and Tarik. He does n`t like it until he finds out about Tess(his girlfriend) is across the lake.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

I have a book baggie book that I can read independently. I want to share some info with you about my book.
The title is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
It is written by J.K. Rowling.
This story is about Harry,Ron,and Hermione try to destroy all the Horcruxes (a part of someone`s soul) so they can defeat Lord Voldemort. They find out that the last Horcrux is at Hogwarts so he can protect the Horcrux. Voldemort kills Harry but he comes back to life and kills Voldemort. That is what this book is about.
It takes place at Hogwarts.
I would recommend this book because it is very detailed and if you like a bit of violence than Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is definitely for you.

Martin Luther King Jr.

On January 15,1929,Martin Luther King Jr. was born. He was born with the name Michael. On the third Monday of January ,we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. day. This year it was Monday January 19th . His famous I Have A Dream… speech was presented on August 28,1963. He died at the age of 39 on April 14,1968. Part of his speech was I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of it`s creed-we hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal. That`s only a bit of his 17 minutes and 28 seconds speech. We got to make our own speech. Click on the arrow below to hear it. 1-23-09

Dave and Skippy

The guitarist/vantriliquest who’s puppet thinks Dave is a nutcase.
Dave came to school today to tell us about diffirent types of rock and roll. Skippy was really funny and even brought some friends along!
A kid got an old fashioned record just for answering a question.
This is only my first blog post, so it probably isn’t the best.
